Flying Eagle Cent (Extremely Fine Grade) Famous Flying Eagle Penny (1857-1858)

$139.00

Designed Chief Engraver James B. Longacre, the Flying Eagle cent is the first of the small cent coins. These unique coins were only produced for three years before being replaced by the Indian Head design. The first year issue (1856) is extremely rare, it's estimated that only 800 to 1,500 of these coins were struck.

This pretty little coin featured a relief that was too high, creating issues in fully struck coins. As a result, it is hard to find two that look exactly alike!  This only added to its charm and popularity among collectors.  Don't wait. Order yours today!
