Mercury Dime — Brilliant Uncirculated (BU)
Dates Our Choice
The Mercury Dime, officially known as the Winged Liberty Head dime, is widely considered one of the most attractive U.S. coin designs of the 20th century. Struck from 1916 to 1945, these dimes circulated through two world wars and a rapidly changing American economy.
A Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) example shows the design as it was meant to be seen. Liberty’s portrait is fully detailed, with sharp lines in the hair and wings, and the reverse fasces and olive branch remain crisp and well defined. Original mint luster is present across the surfaces, with no wear from circulation—only light contact marks consistent with normal mint handling.
While many Mercury dimes saw heavy use, others were set aside early, allowing uncirculated examples to survive. BU coins are popular with collectors who appreciate the artistry of the design and want an example that still reflects its original finish.
“Dates our choice” means we select the specific year based on availability, but every coin meets the Brilliant Uncirculated standard. It’s an easy way to add a sharp, high-quality Mercury dime to a collection without focusing on a specific date.
